Quadratic Equations

1.The hypotenuse of a right triangle is 6m more than twice of the shortest side. If the third side is 2 m. less than the hypotenuse, find the sides of the triangle.

2.A train, traveling at a uniform speed for 360 km would have taken 48 minutes less to travel the same distance, if its speed were 5 km/h more. Find the original speed of the train.

3.Anil takes 6 days less than the time taken by Varun to finish a piece of work. If both Anil and Varun together can finish that work in 4 days, find the time taken by Varun to finish the work independently. 

4.Solve the following equation for z 

    4/(z-1)   -  5/(z+2)    =   3/z     (z ≠ 1,-2,0)

5.Find the roots of the quadratic equation   3x² -2 6x + 2 = 0

6. Sum of a number and its reciprocal is 10/3. Find the number. 

7.Find the discriminant of quadratic equation   x²  -5x +  6 = 0  [ SCERT MP 2022]

5. Find the roots of the equation  2x²  +x -  6 = 0  [ AP SSC 2016M]

6. A strip of width 4 cm is attached to one side of a square to form a rectangle. The area of the rectangle formed is 77 cm², then find the length of the side of the square. [TS SSC 2023 A]
